Hello my students- I am SO sad today. I am going to miss all of you. It's been a fantastic year, I have enjoyed having you all in my life and I hope you have enjoyed having me in yours. You have so warmly welcomed me into your thinking, your feelings, your education, your struggles, your successes, your dramas, your happinesses, your sadnesses, and all the things that come with a complex, full, happy, up-and-down life. We went through a whole year of hard work, learning, growing- and I will miss you all, and miss being here for you. I hope you know how highly I think of you all, and how there is a great big space in this world waiting for you to fill it with your talents, your joys, and your bright minds and strong hearts. The way you support each other, laugh, learn, and enjoy life (even on the "boring" days) have made me feel renewed and joyful myself. I am always available to you if you need my help- please feel free to contact my personal email: [email protected]. I will see you at your senior graduation- crying in the front row with all the MSHS families. "Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all." Sincerely, Ms. Traynor

I am sorry I missed you all last Friday. The sub reported focused classes. My only note: I want you to remember that it is NOT OPTIONAL that you work in class, it is EXPECTED that you work in class and complete whatever is not finished at home. Big difference. If you refuse to put in effort during the class period, you are putting yourself at a disadvantage. If you are not trying to use SCHOOL hours to work, then I'm honestly disappointed in myself as an educator that this is not clear to you. We have spent massive hours talking about how education could be BETTER! Part of that was being open to letting YOU be YOU outside of school- be with your friends, play football, be on swim team, play baseball, be in drama club or theater, whatever, and be the STUDENT 100% in the classroom. If that means you have four more sentences to write at home, than that's what it is. If we have misinterpreted work time to be "I'll just do this all at home even though Ms. Traynor just gave me 80 minutes" than I am deeply saddened as your teacher and disappointed in myself and all of us. With that being said, here is the structure of your essay work week. Block Day (4th period- Tuesday / 5th period- Wednesday / 6th period- Wednesday / 7th period- Thursday) 95 MINS. You are being scored on what is complete in class, out of 4 for each skill. I will have rosters and Gradebook open, and you will have to share your Theme Statement, Thesis Statement, Topic Sentences (all three) with me, each out of 4. This all goes in your OUTLINE which is due on Friday at midnight. Regular Day (4th-7th- Friday) 40 MINS. You are being scored on your concrete detail selection. I will have rosters and Gradebook open, and you will have to share AT LEAST four CDs that you have chosen, and justify why you've selected those CDs per topic sentence. Homework: Make sure you finish TKM by Friday, May 24th.
Today- it is your task to finish your Synthesis between the Trial concrete details and your secondary sources. Please make sure you are 100% happy about this work- you are going to have to use some of this in your essay. Refer to the PowerPoint tomorrow for this information. I put examples of "good" synthesis. We can go over this some more next week. Take heed of the fact that we have late start which means we will have only 2 class periods next week. Homework: By FRIDAY, 5/24 you need to be 100% done with TKM :) If you look at your TKM ORGANIZER. If you look at the due dates on it, your OUTLINE is due soon!
